Mari Laaksonen appointed Tampere Business Unit Director at Technopolis
Technopolis has appointed Mari Laaksonen as the Tampere Business Unit Director. Laaksonen started in the position on 1 August 2024.
Technopolis has three campuses in Tampere: Yliopistonrinne, Asemakeskus and Hermia, with a total of 90,000 square metres of office space. The previous Tampere Business Unit Director, Henri Rantalainen, retired in the summer.
Laaksonen has lived in Tampere for almost 30 years and has extensive experience in the real estate sector. Laaksonen worked for Citycon for 16 years, most recently as Business Director, responsible for the Group’s main shopping center assets Iso Omena and Lippulaiva in Espoo, Koskikeskus in Tampere, as well as the Group’s Danish portfolio. Laaksonen also worked at Citycon as Commercial Director and Shopping Centre Manager. Prior to that, Laaksonen worked at S Group for more than 10 years.
“I believe that my background and my industry expertise provide an excellent foundation for my new role. Similar to Citycon, Technopolis owns, builds and operates its properties. I have been following Technopolis for a long time and recognize it as a leading player in the industry. Technopolis has successfully created a new kind of service concept for office spaces. I am happy to bring my experience to Technopolis and, together with the team, strengthen our position in the market and further develop our operations,” says Laaksonen.
Laaksonen is looking forward to collaborative opportunities with different stakeholders in the region.
“I am excited that my role will allow me to deepen and expand my networks, both within Technopolis’ customers and through regional cooperation. I see cooperation with various stakeholders in the region as crucial for business development, and I am thrilled to continue the excellent work Technopolis has already accomplished here,” says Laaksonen.
Recently, the discussion about the importance of the office for companies has resurfaced in the Nordic countries. Laaksonen believes that Technopolis plays a crucial role in helping companies find the most suitable solutions to support their success.
”I see the office as essential for organisations, particularly in building a sense of community and fostering collaboration and brainstorming. The most important thing is to find the right solutions together with the employees. The office should support the different ways employees work and add value to their workday,” says Laaksonen.
