Technopolis’ ESG Report 2024: Continued effort on sustainability

Technopolis has published its 2024 ESG Report. The published report highlights Technopolis' continued commitment to sustainability and includes the company's progress on energy efficiency, carbon emission reductions, customer satisfaction and employee wellbeing.

"Sustainability is today a central part of business operations, influencing even the entire value chain. Our role is to simplify our customers’ daily operations and support their success. When our customers choose us, they know that they are making a sustainable choice," Niko Pulli, CEO of Technopolis states.

Even though the start of 2025 brought some twists and turns with the EU’s Omnibus proposal, sustainability remains a top priority for Technopolis. For example, Technopolis introduced a company-wide sustainability target for all personnel, covering key areas including energy consumption, waste recycling rates, and customer experience.

"Smart energy-efficiency initiatives will continue to be a major focus of our sustainability work. We are making good progress on our target of carbon neutral energy by 2030. Since 2016, the carbon footprint of the energy consumption of Technopolis’ properties per square meter has decreased by 95 %. We are not stopping there, we are currently updating our carbon reduction roadmap to better cover also indirect emissions, like those caused by renovations. This allows us to set even more ambitious sustainability targets," Johanna Kivelä, Head of Sustainability at Technopolis explains.

Continuous improvement and close collaboration

Technopolis is continuously developing solutions to better support customers’ needs. In 2024 Technopolis introduced a tool that helps respond more efficiently to inquiries about environmental key figures, such as energy consumption. In addition, Technopolis renewed and received new LEED certifications, an external verification for buildings’ environmental performance.

In 2024, Technopolis also updated its Code of Conduct, reinforcing the principles of ethical behavior. It covers five key ethics and compliance areas: human rights, fair work conditions and safety at work, responsible and fair business, corruption, bribery and money laundering, and environmental impact.

"Collaboration has always been at the core of our sustainability strategy. We’re continuing to work even more closely with our partners to develop best practices and implement solutions that support our sustainability goals. Through collaboration, we can achieve greater impact and advance toward a more sustainable future,” Kivelä continues.

The 2024 ESG Report is available on Technopolis’ website. The report has been drafted with partial reference to the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) reporting guidelines as well as the European Public Real Estate Association (EPRA) Sustainability Best Practices Recommendations (sBPR).
