Kempower was looking for a flexible office space in Tampere where development, testing and day-to-day work can be seamlessly linked.
Solution
Technopolis offered Kempower a package that meets the requirements of the technology company and enables growth: a comfortable office space, a laboratory and an outdoor testing environment. In addition, the office spaces on the Hermia campus can be modified as needs develop, and Kempower has been able to expand its office smoothly as the need for space grew.
"Kempower has its headquarters in Lahti, but its product development operations and laboratory are located in Tampere. Tampere is a great location for us, as the city is home to many highly skilled professionals with a background in software development. Currently, more than 50 employees work at our Hermia campus location," says Mika Inkinen, R&D Manager at Kempower.

Technopolis Hermia was a natural choice for Kempower thanks to its central location. The campus has excellent transport links by both car and public transport, and the proximity of the university allows the company to engage in close collaboration with future experts.
"Technopolis Hermia enabled us to create a hybrid office that combines comfortable workstations with a functional laboratory and a testing environment. We test our software every day at charging pools, so having those on campus was a prerequisite for us. The office is located close to the city centre and has good transport links to other Kempower locations," Inkinen says.

"We have been successful in recruiting a lot of new employees, and Technopolis' flexible office spaces make it possible for us to grow while remaining on the campus. We have already expanded our space once – we found additional space right behind the wall and were able to seamlessly make it part of our office. We are very satisfied with the Hermia campus. The property maintenance and cleaning services work very well, and there are good lunch spots and shops nearby for our employees," Inkinen says.
The testing environment is at the heart of product development
The space is not only for office work – the practical testing environment is a key part of Kempower's operations in Tampere, including the company's product development and its success.
"We have two separate EC charging pools at the Hermia campus, where we test the functionality of software, vehicles and chargers in practice. We have several different charger configurations that we can test directly at a charging pool. We can get more charging pools from Technopolis according to our needs," Inkinen says.

“We are in regular contact with Technopolis representatives. If we end up needing more space again due to growth, Technopolis will actively look for solutions to meet our needs. Technopolis has helped us without delay if there has been a problem," Inkinen says.
