Modern and adaptable office space supports Nordea’s growth in Tampere

Nordea relocated to a new office at the Technopolis Yliopistonrinne campus in Tampere. The flexible spaces, excellent location and the rental meeting rooms on the campus make Nordea’s everyday work smoother.

  • Challenge

Nordea was looking for a new office space in Tampere that would support the bank’s continuous growth and meet the varying needs of the units. The office had to be suitable for phone-based and expert work as well as face-to-face customer service, which meant that it had to be easily accessible for both employees and customers.

  • Solution

Nordea found the right space for its needs at Technopolis Yliopistonrinne, right in the heart of Tampere. The flexible office space can be adapted to the bank’s needs and growth, and the central location has earned praise from both customers and personnel.

In Tampere, Nordea found an office space at Technopolis that meets its needs and makes it easy to maintain the bank’s wide range of services. Nordea’s daily banking and cash services remained at the Kauppakatu location, while all other operations were centralized at the Yliopistonrinne campus.

"We have been at Technopolis for three years and have about 300 people working here every day. Moving to the Yliopistonrinne campus was a big step towards new and modern operations, and we have been very satisfied with both the office space and the cooperation with Technopolis," says Jani Koivunen, Head of Tampere at Nordea.

Case Nordea

Adaptable office spaces that meet the needs of banking operations

The Yliopistonrinne campus is now the workplace for a large number of financial professionals, and the office space serves professionals from Nordea’s personal and corporate services, as well as the bank’s phone customer service team. According to Koivunen, the move to the new office went smoothly, even though it affected a large number of employees.

"At our previous office, we were spread over several floors and needed room for expansion. Technopolis Yliopistonrinne stood out to us thanks to its excellent location, and it also offers versatile and easily accessible facilities for both employees and customers. The move here went smoothly and everything was ready when the employees arrived here on the first day," Koivunen says.

The campus' wide range of services and competent staff support business operations

Nordea operates on three floors at Technopolis. The phone customer service and expert unit are located on the 5th floor, customer service and main operations are on the 6th floor, and additional space is used on the 3rd floor. Nordea has gained special added value from the wide range of meeting rooms that are available on the Yliopistonrinne campus, which provide excellent support for organising customer events, for example.

"Even though we operate on multiple floors, the facilities have been carefully selected with business needs as the top priority. There are both quiet and other diverse workspaces available for every employee. At Technopolis, we don't need to include meeting facilities in our own office space. Instead, we can rent meeting rooms on the campus from the reception. We have used this service to organise events for customers and personnel, for example," Koivunen says.

Flexibility, insights and new opportunities

According to Koivunen, Technopolis is a flexible and responsive partner. Nordea has its own designated contact person at Technopolis who knows the bank’s business and can proactively propose new office solutions as needs change.

"Technopolis’ flexibility has proven itself, particularly in the additional office space we’ve been able to acquire as needed. We have a designated contact person who knows our business and can highlight areas for development that we don't always notice ourselves. We have also got to know the other tenants on the campus and how they are using their space, which has provided valuable new perspectives. Technopolis has earned a glowing recommendation from us: we have worked with them for three years and we are happy to continue the partnership," Koivunen says.
